Exchange Program Meets with Success
Honolulu – The First International Distinguished Scholar Program was held on April 12th through the 18th here in Honolulu. The program, featuring two distinguished physicians from the China Rehabilitation Research Center (CRRC) in Beijing, was considered a success by all participants.
Prof. Li Jianjun served as featured speaker for the program. In addition to serving as Director of the CRRC, Prof. Li is an accomplished spine surgeon and is considered one of the leading experts on Spinal Cord Injury in China. Prof. Li made several presentation on the Management of Spinal Cord Injury in China and on the Development of Medical Rehabilitation in China. In addition he received the First International Distinguished Scholar award from the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific Foundation.
The CRRC was also represented by Dr. Zheng Tao, a specialist in Chinese Medicine and its applications in Medical Rehabilitation. Dr. Zheng spoke on the Use of Chinese Medicine Techniques in Rehabilitation, and also gave a practical demonstration on the use of acupuncture and acupressure in the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries.
The purpose of the International Distinguished Scholar Program is to promote international exchange and cooperation in Medical Rehabilitation. Sponsorship for the program was provided by the Lin and Ella Wong Foundation, Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific Foundation, and the Cheng Health Foundation. Additional support was generously provided by Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific and the Queen’s Medical Center.

Our current efforts are focused on promoting the development of medical rehabilitation in China, and improving cooperation between rehabilitation medicine professionals in China and the US. We have partnered with the China Rehabilitation Research Center and Honolulu’s Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific to advance our efforts.
